The sky is falling ….

September 8, 2008 3 comments

As Asterix fans will remember, thats what the indomitable Gauls used to say when they sensed impending catastrophe! For some, the large hadron collider with its mini-black-hole-creating-forces is going to be the end of the world. One second a bunch of scientists gawking at their monitors, running their mathematical models through supercomputers, the next – nothing, nada, kaput. No more earth, no more planet to save, no more wars to fight, no more nothing!

So, as Amit Varma asks on India Uncut :

“1] If the world was to end, would you prefer that it end suddenly without your being aware of it, or that you had some time to contemplate your end, and maybe do some things still left undone?

2] If your answer is that you’d like some time, how much time would you like?

Okay, now here’s the deal: you’ve got that time. It starts now”

Kinda reminds me of a resolution I made a few posts ago 🙂

Hello world!

December 26, 2007 3 comments

I love this title- Hello World – “Helllooooo world”!

I have a conflict of interest here. My interest (read loquaciousness) against the readers (read need for brevity). Since this is day 1, I will be breve (please pardon the pun and get used to it, many will follow 😉 ) and get down to business.

First the basic question: What am I going to write about?

Answer(s):

My life. To be more specific, each time I create a thought and manage to run it through the gears and crank shafts of my brain and produce a publish-worthy idea, I will publish it!

My travels. Local, national, global, lunar, solar, inter-galactic as and when they happen. I will try and do a photo-blog-travelogue.

Links: I have realized that an important function of a blog is to point people to other blogs!

Technology: Yes, I’ll admit it, I am a geek at heart!

Music: I am going to try and do some simple write ups on the fundamentals of Hindustani Classical Music. This will be an exercise to accompany my efforts to try and gain a deeper understanding of the science behind the art.

Now, the less important question:

Who am I?

At varying levels of abstraction I belong to the following groups:

Software Engineer at Oracle Corp.

23 year old guy who drives a Volkswagen.

Part time bathroom singer.

Wannabe dancer.

(Bad) Elvis impersonator.

Indian, Marathi, Mumbaikar, KoBra.

Seeker of the answer to the question to which this is an answer.

I could go on, but I am sure you get the point!

Thanks for having the patience to reach this point! I hope I have piqued your interest enough to have you come back for a second glance! See you soon.
